Our Commitment to Sustainability at The Sheiling
At The Sheiling, we are dedicated to making a positive impact on the environment. We understand that we have some way to go, but we are committed to taking meaningful steps towards sustainability.
Here’s what we’ve done so far and what we’re working on to make The Sheiling a more sustainable option for our guests and to play our part in creating a better environment.
Our Sustainable Practices
- We’ve replaced our heating system with a more efficient, remote-controlled one to avoid energy wastage.
- To reduce plastic waste, we now bulk-buy quality hand soap and washing-up liquid and refill bottles instead of purchasing new ones.
- We are avoiding unnecessary plastic wherever possible.
- We choose biodegradable and climate-pledge-friendly products, where possible.
- We avoid leaving food items for guests which can perish quickly if not used, reducing food waste.
- We support small businesses by buying local products as welcome gifts and promote local businesses’ goods and services to our guests.
- We’ve maintained a wild garden outside the main garden area to encourage local biodiversity.
- We have recycling measures in place to ensure waste is minimised and properly sorted.
- We try to find homes for items no longer needed rather than disposing of them.
- We support local charities and trusts as well as other Scottish charities and good causes, contributing to the local community’s well-being.
Our Ongoing Efforts
We are continually seeking new ways to improve our sustainability practices and welcome your feedback and suggestions.
We ask you to support The Sheiling’s journey towards sustainability during your stay. Every small step counts, and together, we can make a difference for a better environment.
